[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eighteen – year – old Akeem Dazzel of Lot 173 Campbell Street, Albouystown Georgetown, accused of attempted murder, appeared before City Magistrate, Judy Latchman.
It is alleged that on November 15, 2015 at James Street, Albouystown, with intent to commit murder, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jamal Nichols.
He was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge. His lawyer explained that on the day in question, Dazzel was walking home when he was suddenly ambushed by two men.
The lawyer informed the court that his client was defending himself when during the struggle, Nichols was injured.
However, the Prosecution noted that the accused used a screw driver in his attack against the complainant, who is still hospitalized in a city hospital nursing his injuries, with the weapon still lodged in his neck.
This they say, is life threatening. Bail was denied and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on December 01.
