[www.inewsguyana.com] – Three police officers are currently under close arrest, following reports that they sodomised a 16 – year – old boy at the Stabroek Police Outpost, Georgetown.
The 16 – year – old is alleging that on Sunday, January 26, three police ranks took him into the Police Mobile Outpost at the Stabroek Market area, where they performed the sexual act.
The Public Relations Office of the Guyana Police Force confirmed that they received the report on Tuesday, January 28, after which the ranks have been pulled off duty.
This new allegation fall on the heels of another sodomy allegation against ranks of the Timheri Police Station, in particular Constable Devin Mahendra Singh, who was accused of raping 23 – year – old detainee, Colwyn Harding by pushing a condom covered baton into his anus.
Commenting on the issue today, Alliance for Change (AFC) Parliamentarian, Cathy Hughes expressed her disgust with the fresh allegation against the Police Force.
“This is the umpteenth complaint against the police and at the same time, serious crimes are on the increase. This is now a very untellable situation and citizens really should not allow this to continue,” Hughes told a news conference on Wednesday, January 29.
According to her, police officers becoming criminals themselves, is a reflection of the government. The AFC Parliamentarian then renewed the AFC’s call for Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee to step down.
“It is a disturbing trend and it seems to be getting worse and worse and our tolerance as citizens of Guyana seems to be just becoming acceptable. We now don’t have the outrage that we used to feel,” Hughes said.
