[www.inewsguyana.com] – An 18-year-old Fruit Vendor of 83 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty Georgetown was placed on $10,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan for wounding his attacker.
Ravi Rajkumar appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 14) and was not required to plead to the offence which alleged that on November 13 at Wellington Street, Georgetown he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Joseph Paris.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Dinero Jones told the court on that day around 00:30hrs the accused was walking along Wellington Street, when the victim came up to him and demand that he handed over his valuables. Jones said that Rajkumar pulled out a pair of scissors and dealt four stabs to the virtual complainant (VC).
Paris then made an escape with the latter’s chain into a yard and summoned the police.
Attorney-at-Law Mr. Paul Fung-A-Fat represented the defendant and stated that he suffered injuries (cuts) about his body while being robbed by the complainant.
He also noted that his client was merely defending himself.
The victim was not present in court, but his wife Donna Paris came on his behalf, informing the court that her husband is sick. The matter was adjourned, until November 21.
