A 17-year-old was stabbed outside of the Berbice High School (BHS) in New Amsterdam, during an alleged argument over a 13-year-old girl.
The injured teen has been identified as Paul Sahadeo of Bloomfied, Corentyne, Berbice.
According to reports received, a 13-year-old girl from the Berbice High School reportedly telephoned her 17-year-old boyfriend to pick her up after school.
Sahadeo arrived at the school with two other teenage friends in a car. Upon seeing the 13-year-old girl enter the car, a 15-year-old boy from the same school – who is allegedly the other boyfriend – approached the vehicle and an argument ensued. The argument quickly escalated into a scuffle between the two ‘boyfriends’.
Sahadeo, who was sitting in the car, reportedly whipped out an ice pick and gave it to the girl’s 15-year-old boyfriend but another student who is a friend of the younger boyfriend, reportedly took away the ice pick and dealt Sahadeo seven stabs to his body, including once to his left temple.
Blood began to spray from his wounds which caused panic. The injured teen was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The child who allegedly stabbed Sahadeo has since been released into the custody of his parents as Police continue their investigations.
The injured teen’s condition is being monitored by both the hospital staff and Police.
