A teenager who was months ago accused of stealing a woman’s motorcycle walked out of court a free man after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday.
Magistrate Faith McGusty told the court that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence in the matter and as such, 19-year-old Akeem Williams of Rasville Housing Scheme, Georgetown was free to go.
It was alleged that on January 19, 2019, at Rasville Housing Scheme, while being armed with a gun, Williams robbed Akisha Moore of one motorcycle valued $285,000.
The teen and the woman are known to each other.
On the day in question, Moore reportedly borrowed the motorcycle from another person and while riding along the Rasville road, she was confronted by Williams and others who relieved her of the motorcycle.
On February 5, 2019, Williams was at East La Penitence Police Station for an assault matter involving his girlfriend, and it was while there he was positively identified by Moore as the person who robbed her.
A confrontation was held between them, and he was later charged.
