[www.inewsguyana.com] – November 17 will mark the 54th edition of the National School Championships when the event is held at the Guyana Defence Force (ground), Base Camp Ayanganna.
The event was officially launched on Friday, November 14 at the Ministry of Education’s Boardroom where the Guyana Teacher Union’s (GTU) President, Mark Lyte highlighted that preparations are in place for the successful hosting of the championships.
“GTU is pleased to be playing a significant role and to work with the Ministry… all the districts are ready to compete all preparations are being put in place with the various stakeholders to have a successful event,” Lyte said.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ministry of Education, Olato Sam stressed the importance of the event to Guyana’s youth.
‘I’m quite pleased to see the sponsors recognizing that this event can help mold our young athletes… we expected that this year is even better and at the end of this cycle we will meet with all relevant stakeholders to see how we can better the event in the coming years,” Sam stressed.
Banks DIH and Gatorade were pleased to be a part of the championships, noting that the athletes deserve the best type of hydration and refueling.
