[www.inewsguyana.com] – Seven persons including a teacher and two children have been rendered homeless following the complete destruction of their home at Lot 638 Hibiscus Street West Ruimveldt, Georgetown by fire on Thursday, March 12.
iNews has been informed that the fire started at approximately 11:20hrs, while two of the family members were at home.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. One neighbor, Simone Charles said that one of her guests saw smoke emanating from the house and raised an alarm.
Charles said she saw two of the adult siblings running out of the building, as she noted that the fire quickly spread through the house.
iNews observed that the eastern wall of the building collapsed which indicated that the fire was mostly concentrated on that side of the building.
The occupants of the home were too shaken to speak to the media and were observed crying and consoling each other as they lamented that they lost everything in the fire including source documents, passports and other personal belongings. [Leroy Smith]
