[www.inewsguyana.com] – A suspected bandit is nursing injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he and another accomplice robbed a taxi driver of his money and car on Monday night.
According to a police report, at approximately 20:30 hrs on August 10, taxi driver Lawrence Singh was hired by a man at the taxi base at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, to go to Mc Doom on the East Bank of Demerara.
At Mc Doom, another man armed with a firearm held up Singh and the two men took away Singh’s Motor vehicle, $ 10,000 cash and a cell phone.
During the robbery, Singh raised an alarm and neighbouring residents responded and the armed man escaped, while his accomplice drove away with the motor car.
The victim gave chase in another vehicle and the police also responded to the report made. The perpetrator was apprehended after he collided with another motor vehicle along Sheriff Street, Georgetown.
He had received minor injuries and has been admitted to the GHPC under guard.
