[www.inewsguyana.com] – Carl Campbell of Lot 512 East La Penitence, Georgetown, was placed on his own recognizance, by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on an assault charge.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which accused him of assaulting William Thompson, causing actual bodily harm. Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the Court that both the defendant and virtual complainant (VC) are taxi drivers and was not on speaking terms because of a previous matter.
He said on the day in question, as a result of an argument, the defendant became annoyed and dealt the complainant several cuffs.
The prosecutor did not object to bail and the case will call again on January 24.
