The five men who were arrested in connection with the murder of the pensioner at Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) are still in police custody and law enforcement officials are continuing to grill the suspects hoping for a break in the case.
Thus far the investigators in ‘D’ Division are being assisted by ranks of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Eve Leary, Georgetown, with the aim of bringing justice to the family of 63-year-old Ramroop Rameshwar who was murdered in his home on Tuesday morning.
Rameshwar’s body was discovered bound and gagged sometime around 06:30h by his neighbours who had observed that the dead man’s front door of his house was open and went inside to check on him.
The man was found lying on the floor in front of the door with his hands and feet tied behind his back and his mouth gagged. He also had blood oozing from his mouth and nose.
One of the Rameshwar’s neighbours has stated that on Monday night, she heard the man screaming but did not take it seriously since he usually behaved in that manner.
She explained that it was until the next morning that realization dawned upon them that something was amiss when they saw his door open.
She said that they called out to him but there was no answer and so she alerted the other neighbours to go check on him. That was when the gruesome discovery was made.
Rameshwar has been living there for several years and was living alone after he separated from his wife.
