The two suspects who were held in connection with the murder of the Sparendaam youth, whose body was found along the East Coast Railway Embankment last week, have been released from police custody.
This is despite one of the men having in his possession the cellular phone belonging to the now dead Sherwin Lynch, 19, of Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Lynch’s body was found last Wednesday night along the Goedverwagting Railway Embankment Road with stab wounds.
According to a source close to the investigation, Lynch’s friend who was with him at the time of the fatal attack, stated that he can identify the perpetrators if he should see them again.
Upon viewing the two suspects who were in the lockups, he notified the relevant authorities that the two individuals were not involved in the murder of his friend.
Meanwhile, the police have received crucial information in the case that will take them in another direction.
Investigations are on-going as law enforcement officials are now on the hunt for another suspect.
