A 26-year-old man was on Tuesday remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to a murder charge.
Audrey Bobb was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on October 12, 2017, he murdered businessman Godfrey Scipio aka “Saga” of Durban Street.
The accused is expected to reappear at court on November 1.
On the evening in question Scipio was leaving a kitty hotel in the company of a female friend when he was accosted by the lone gunman and robbed of his gold chain.
The suspect reportedly shot Scipio once to his abdomen before fleeing the scene.
“Saga” was pronounced dead at a city hospital shortly after.
In police custody, the suspect on Sunday last reportedly confessed to robbing and killing 64-year-old Scipio.
He was recently released from prison after serving time on a previous robbery charge.
This publication was told that the gold jewellery that was stolen from Scipio, during the robbery, has not been recovered.
