Almost one year after a Brazilian gold miner was killed at Fish Creek, Cuyuni River, Region 8, police say that homicide detectives are in the process of solving the gruesome murder.
According to police reports, a 25-year-old male suspect who resides at Joshen ,Essequibo River was arrested on Tuesday. It was reported that during hours of interrogation, he admitted to being one of four persons who committed the crime.
INews understands that a very close relative of the suspect -who is presently serving time at the Mazaruni Prison for a robbery- has been implicated as one of the three other perpetrators.
Moreover, the suspect in custody, during a confrontation, has confessed to being the one who used a sharp instrument to slit the throat of the victim- Naldinho De Costa Souza.
Investigations are continuing.
De Costa Sousa was killed on February 9, 2017, at Fish Creek Backdam, Cuyuni River.
