Police “C” Division Commander, Calvin Brutus has confirmed that investigations are now ongoing into the circumstances surrounding a robbery on Thursday evening at a Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara supermarket.
Based on information received, two armed men stormed the Chinese business at around 19:00hrs. One of the men was said to be wearing a black tope hat on his head, while the other wore a grey sunhat.
INews understands that the gunmen approached the female owner of the business and managed to relieve her of her iPhone valued at $160,000, before proceeding to rob her husband, of a large quantity of cash and phone cards.
The bandits then relieved one of the employees of her gold chain.
This online publication was told that the CCTV footage which was active during the time of the robbery is being reviewed.
