A Corentyne family is now grieving the loss of a 16-year-old teen who reportedly committed suicide this morning.
The dead teen has been identified as Shemar Hunte of Rose Hall, Region 6.
Based on reports received by Inews, the teen was reportedly involved in argument with his mother, just before she left the home to go out today.
However, upon her return, the woman indicated that she called for him numerous times, but he failed to respond. As such, she went up to his room thinking that he was still annoyed from their disagreement this morning.
Unfortunately, the mother was greeted with the sight of her son hanging from the ceiling in his room.
Her screams alerted other family members and the police were informed.
Meanwhile, it was only yesterday that police in Mahdia, Region 8 became aware of another apparent suicide.
This time however, it was a 21-year-old Nursery School teacher, identified as Bridgette Naraine originally of Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara who allegedly took her life in her apartment in Mahdia.
She was discovered by police who had received reports of her being missing since Saturday March 11, 2017. When ranks arrived at her apartment, they were greeted by a foul stench and an alarm was raised.
After entry was gained into the flat, the lifeless and deteriorating body of Naraine was discovered.
Police “F” Division Commander, Rabindranauth Budhram has indicated that the matter will be treated as a suicide until a post mortem can be conducted on her body on Friday.
