[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Sport sector has received close to $1B in this year’s National Budget.
During the budget presentation in the National Assembly on March 24, Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh estimated that the sector should be allocated some $960 million.
According to the Finance Minister, the first $344 million will go towards projects ongoing in the sector. These projects include the National Aquatic Centre’s warm up pool being constructed adjacent to the original 50m Olympic Sized pool.
Another project includes the Synthetic Athletic Track at Leonora, West Coast Demerara, while $300 million has been allocated for the Ministry of Sports community development project.
This year’s budget is similar to the 2013 allocation for the sector where just over a billion dollars was allocated.
