A 32-year-old resident of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan to answer to a charge of discharging a loaded firearm.
Kevin Aaron, of 2413 South Ruimvedt, was unrepresented when he made his appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. He pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 8, 2016 in Georgetown, he discharged a loaded firearm to maim, disfigure, disable or to cause grievous bodily harm to Rawle Blackman.
The prosecution, in presenting its case, disclosed that police ranks could not retrieve the firearm. However, they were able to acquire the rounds (ammo).
Aaron in his plea for the Chief Magistrate to be merciful in her ruling, said he was the sole caretaker of his grandmother.
His pleas were, however, ignored as the prosecution objected to bail noting the “seriousness” of the matter.
The South Ruimveldt man is to make his next court appearance on October 3, 2016. (Ramona Luthi)
