[www.inewsguyana.com] – Forty- four – year – old, Clifton Dowlin, a Carpenter of North Sophia, Greater Georgetown was today placed on $75,000 bail for allegedly stealing two vehicle batteries.
Dowlin pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on August 18 at Prashad Nagar, Georgetown he stole two 27 plates battery together valued $115,000, property of Michael Gaskin.
Police Prosecutor, Adduni Innis, told the Court that the virtual complainant’s (VC) employee checked and secured the truck which was parked on the eastern parapet of his employer’s yard and left for home.
Later the same day, the VC himself went to check his truck and discovered that the articles mentioned in the charge were missing. Investigations were carried out and the defendant was arrested and charged.
The Prosecutor opposed bail for the unrepresented man based on the nature of the charge and the fact that he was convicted previously for a similar offence.
His case was put off for October 1 before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
