Son to spend 12 months in jail for assaulting mother

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man was sentenced to 12 months in jail by Magistrate Judy Latchman for assaulting his mother. Paul Headley of Princess Street, Georgetown pleaded guilty to the charge when appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 29.

The particulars of the case state that on October 24 at their home the accused assaulted his mother Debra Headley. Police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt told the court that at about 17:00 hours on the said day, the complainant asked the accused to remove a pipe he had placed in her yard and he refused, resulting in the complainant trying to remove the pipe on her own during which the accused became annoyed and dealt his mother a cuff to her face.
