Media reports from Suriname revealed that the son of Suriname’s President Desi Bouterse was arrested Thursday by U.S agents in Panama and he is facing possible extradition to the United States on reported drug trafficking allegations and charges.
U.S Authorities have informed the Surinamese Government, that the President’s son Dino Bouterse was arrested when he arrived in Panama to set up arms trade agreements for Suriname.
This is not the first case against the President’s son, as he served time in the past for drug trafficking, arms smuggling and using a false passport.
Guyana’s President, Donald Ramotar only today arrived in Suriname for a special UNASUR meeting.
There are reports that the U.S has taken steps to beef up security at its embassy in Paramaribo following the arrest of the President’s son.
