A Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD) family had to be treated at the Diamond hospital following a severe beating at the hands of gunmen who invaded their place of business on Sunday.
Reports are that the incident occurred around 15:00hrs when the three unmasked armed men entered the Sharman General Store.
This publication was told by A Division (Georgetown-East Bank Demerara) Commander Marlon Chapman that the men entered through the garage of the business place, which is located close to the Linden-Soesdyke Highway junction.
The men reportedly entered the premises where the businesswoman and her son, along with others, were at the time.
Pointing guns, the men started to ransack the business place after which they ordered the family to hand over their valuables.
When they failed to comply, the gunmen used their weapons to beat the family members.
Following the beating, the men ordered the family to lie on the floor after which they escaped the scene in a white Toyota Premio motorcar with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery and electronics.
The Police were called to the scene and the family members were rushed to the hospital.
Commander Chapman revealed that no one has been arrested, but the Police are continuing their investigations.
