The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has condemned the continuation of what it describes as a vile campaign of vilification, slander and spite against the acting Town Clerk of the Georgetown Municipality, Ms Carol Ryan Sooba.
“The sustained campaign, which has a nasty tinge of racism and gender discrimination, is being perpetuated by Mayor Hamilton Green and his cabal in the PNC controlled City Council and took a turn for the worse when Mayor Green sent his goons to issue threats in the guise of protest action at the home of Ms Sooba,” the Party noted in a press statement today.
According to the PPP, “It is also public knowledge that the sinister agenda against Ms Sooba only commenced when she began to uncover gross financial irregularities within the Hamilton Green led M&CC. Her effectiveness in administering the affairs of the cash strapped Municipality has reportedly interrupted the Mayor and his PNC now APNU group using the City’s resources for their own political gain.”
The PPP and by extension the PPP Councillors offer their full support to the acting Town Clerk, Ms. Sooba and encourage her to continue executing her duties in a professional and efficient manner.
