(Jamaica Observer) Opposition Leader, Portia Simpson Miller is condemning the recent spate of murders, especially the recent attacks on children.
In a release from the PNP secretariat, Simpson Miller was cited as saying that the attack on the children represents an attack on Jamaica’s future.
“Crime is out of control. Children are being killed and the Government has ignored that sad fact,” the Opposition Leader said.
Simpson Miller’s condemnation comes after recent killings of a one-year-old in St Mary, a three-year-old who was killed execution style in downtown Kingston and the shooting of a five-year-old in West Kingston.
Simpson Miller called on the Prime Minister Andrew Holness to outline the promised plans and programmes to tackle crime as: “It cannot be business as usual when the future of Jamaica is being attacked.”
She is calling for “swift and decisive short and long term measures to address the untenable explosion of crime.” Simpson Miller also pledged the support of the Opposition in any meaningful effort to reduce crime and cauterise the bloodshed and suffering across the island.
