A man was today remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty charged with abusive language and assault which he allegedly committed against his sister Sharon Howell.
Wyclef Halley of 81 Freeman Street East La Penitence Georgetown pleaded not guilty to both offences. It was alleged that on July 13 at Freeman Street East La Penitence Georgetown, Halley made use of abusive language and unlawfully assaulted the woman.
Since both parties are currently sharing the same yard space; the Magistrate ordered the accused to relocate pending the termination of the matter.
However, Halley told the court that he has nowhere to go and as such the Magistrate refused bail. Meanwhile, Sharon Howell was faced with a threatening behavior charge.
She pleaded guilty with an explanation and told the Court that she did not commit the offence and that the accused told her that he will put her in the burial ground where she belongs and in return she told him to do it.
Howell was placed on self bail and both parties are to return to court on July 22. [Royan Abrams]
