[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police sources have confirmed that the wanted man who was shot last evening during a police operation, Steven Mohamed, is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital and is presently under police guard.
iNews was informed that Mohamed was shot to his right leg and shoulder after he opened fire on ranks who approached him after they attempted to intercept him and not during a roadblock as was reported by iNews.
Mohamed was at a location at Friendship, East Bank of Demerara when the police received information about his presence and swooped down on him.
Police sources revealed that he was cautioned and an attempt was made to arrest him when he opened fire on the ranks, who returned fire hitting him.
This news agency was told that the man was wanted for murder and armed robberies in interior locations and checks would be carried out today to see if he did any crimes outside of the interior locations.
Last evening, the police were able to recover a .38 revolver and three live rounds and two spent shells.
