A number of passengers who arrived in Guyana via LIAT Airlines last week are still to receive word as to when they would be able to collect their luggage.
INews understands that many of these affected passengers returned to Guyana to be part of activities slated for the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary (Jubilee) celebrations.
However, their festive moods were dampened when they arrived at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD), only to find out that their luggage had not reached Guyana as yet.
To date, these passengers have been visiting the said airport and are trying to obtain relevant information as to when they will be able to receive their belongings from the LIAT Airlines office but they have been unsuccessful.
According to some of the affected passengers, the airline representatives have not provided much information to them, if any at all, and this is causing the visitors to become more frustrated and upset with each passing day.
Efforts to contact LIAT Airlines for a comment proved futile.
Nothing strange I went to Guyana from London via Barbados and Port of Spain six weeks ago and encountered the same problem. Well Liat officials had a good telling off from the passengers from the UK . Our luggage arrived the next day on a special k flight. I am not prepared to connect with Liat again. This has been going on for years not now. Had the same problem in 2005.
