[www.inewsguyana.com] – Following the arrest of the main suspect in the death of Mahendra Singh which the police are now treating as murder or manslaughter, they have returned to the Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo area where other persons have been picked up for questioning.
iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) has been informed that the based on the information related by the main suspect who goes by the name Raghubir, the other persons were held for questioning when the police return to the area.
They also returned to the home of the main suspect and picked up persons who resided with him. According to the police, at about 05:30hon Wednesday April 02, Singh was found motionless at his home and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations so far indicate that on Tuesday, Singh and another man were imbibing at a house at Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara, when an argument developed and he was allegedly struck to his head with an object.
One woman whose relative was held for questioning told iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) that her relative was not present at the shop when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
She however admitted that her relative would frequent the shop from time to time.
Relatives of the dead man said that he and the man now held for his murder were very close friends for years and would usually team up to take their “drinks” every now and then.
