A Security Guard appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and pleaded not guilty to three counts of unlawful assault which he allegedly committed against his reputed wife Tinuja Singh.
It is alleged that on July 04, Mahadeo Smith unlawfully assaulted his reputed wife at a house in Independence Boulevard.
On the same day at Main Street, Georgetown he unlawfully assaulted the woman again and while heading to Brickdam, he further unlawfully assaulted her.
According to the police prosecutor, on the day in question at about 16:50 hours, the accused took his reputed wife to Independence Boulevard where he accused her of having a relationship with another man.
The accused then took his wife to Main Street Georgetown and allegedly assaulted her. The court was told that while the woman was heading to the Brickdam Police Station to make a report, the accused grabbed her by her neck.
Based on the circumstances of the matter, he was remanded to prison until July 19. [Royan Abrams]
