Newly appointed school managers in the Georgetown district are being trained in proper managerial practices and how they could get the best out of their students. The training is being hosted for four days by the Department of Education at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD).
The workshop is being held under the theme “managing to improve student performance.”
The objective is to enable the teachers to put systems and structures in place for efficient operation in the schools.
Principal Education Officer, Baydewan Rambarran says teachers must be sensitized on the need for proper managerial practices and they must ensure that structures are set up to ensure success.
Rambarran adds that the education sector is rapidly changing and teachers must adapt to these changers.
Deputy Chief Education Officer for Development, Doodmattie Singh made reference to the theme of the workshop and said it should be the theme of every manager’s personal objective.
She says schools must prepare children for further education and the world of work and for this to happen; the teachers must work in cohesion to ensure the success of their students at all levels. The workshop will conclude on August 23. [Akash Ramlackhan]
