[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Ministry of Labour is currently investigating first degree burns sustained by RUSAL Supervisor, Allan Benn employed at its Kurukuku Mines.
iNews understands that Benn received a report from the night shift supervisor about the dipping of the security lights with arcing sound from the control panel on Friday, January 30.
It was noted that Benn investigated the report and removed a dead bird from the control panel. During the process of cleaning inside the panel, a loud sound with a flash of fire occurred while Benn was standing directly in front of the open panel. He suffered burns to his hand, face and upper chest area.
Company officials then transported the injured Benn to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex for initial medical intervention.
Meanwhile, iNews understands that the Ministry of Labour is currently investigating the incident to ascertain if the company and its workers were compliant in enforcing standard occupational health and safety procedures.
