[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) thanked their sponsors in a class way by holding an appreciation ceremony for their sponsors on Tuesday evening at the Le Meridian Pegasus Oasis Lounge.
The sponsors were able interact with the players that are set to represent Guyana at the North American and Caribbean Rugby Association’s (NACRA) Seven’s tournament scheduled for December in Mexico.
The sponsors in attendance were Edward B Beharry Group of Companies, the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), Citizen Bank and Ming’s Automotives and Repairs while representatives from Ansa McAL, GBTI, Copa Airlines and the Government were unable to attend.
President of the GOA, KA Juman Yassin warned against complacency during the night’s proceedings.
“Do not be over-confident because it can lead to complacency which will run the risk of losing, it is good to be confident but not over-confident.
“With that said I do look forward to your return so I can say hail the champions,” Yassin added.
Meanwhile all of the sponsors in attendance wished the team well on their quest to win Guyana’s seventh NACRA title.
President of the GRFU, Peter Green declared his confidence in the team. “These guys will not be complacent; they are going with one mission to erase the mess that was last year and to show where Guyana’s rugby belongs.
“You go with the hopes of an entire nation behind you, you have been given the mandate to bring the title home… for us this is our first… this is now, teams have improved but we will show them we have what it takes… each one of you are game changers on your day,” Green stressed.
The team will depart Guyana on Friday, November 28 as green urged the team to “bring the title home”.
