[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have made it their second win in as many matches when they knocked off the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets on April 19.
Among the notable absentees was Chris Gayle, who is still ruled out of action due to the recurring back pains faced in the first match.
Before the commencement of today’s game, RCB Captain Virat Kholi said that Gayle is still in recovery mode from his back problem.
After the win, Gayle tweeted “another job well done’.
Their win came squarely off the backs of Partiv Patel who scored 57 off just 45 balls and AB de Villiers who joined the bandwagon for 45 off 48.
Earlier, the game seemed to be in favor of the Mumbai Indians after three quick wickets; that of Nic Maddinson bowled for 12 by Lasith Malinga, Kholi for a duck, caught off the bowling of Zaheer Khan, and Yuvraj Singh for another duck two deliveries later to the same bowler.
Nonetheless, de Villiers and Patel brought the game back into perspective
According to Kholi, “Two-nil. There was a nervous moment or two there, but there were positives. AB getting in early and getting a hit and PP batting well.”
Earlier, Ambati Rayudu’s 37, 16 from Mike Hussey, 17 from Aditya Tare, 18 from Corey Anderson and the 12 extras represented the double figures.
Mitchell Starc, Varun Aaron and Yuzvendra Chahal each had two wickets.
