[www.inewsguyana.com] – General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Clement Rohee says that the Party is standing firmly behind President Donald Ramotar as the Presidential candidate for the upcoming General and Regional Elections.
This is despite political observers such as former Speaker of the National Assembly, Ralph Ramkarran saying that there is a general divide in the PPP over who should be the Party’s Presidential Candidate.
But according to Rohee, this is not the case and the PPP remains united behind the incumbent President for the candidacy.
“The answer is a resounding capital Y, capital E, capital YES. En espanol, si senor,” said Rohee when questioned by reporters during a press conference on Wednesday, February 11 at Freedom House.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary also told reporters that the PPP is yet to decide on who will be the Prime Ministerial candidate for the May 11 polls. He also noted that no decision has been made on the Party’s elections Campaign Manager.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds has said that any decision being made for him to return as the Prime Ministerial Candidate PPP/C in the May 11 polls will not be taken by him.
Hinds told Reporters in a recent interview that while he is “always ready to serve” the decision for him to return in that capacity is not up to him.
