[www.inewsguyana.com] – Following approximately two weeks of being sick, Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee was flown out to the United States to seek further medical attention earlier this week.
Rohee is scheduled to return to work on November 25, government officials have confirmed.
The Minister was hospitalized on November 7 at the Woodlands Hospital, following reports that he was suffering from flu like virus. Despite being discharged from the hospital, the Minister still missed several public engagements.
However, he was eventually flown to the United States to conduct further tests. Acting in Rohee’s capacity at the moment is Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, who is also the country’s acting President.
Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon on Wednesday, November 20 said, “Constitutionally, in the absence of a Minister gazette with the responsibility, the President assumes responsibility for that sector. So the Prime Minister is also the acting President and also the acting Minister of Home Affairs.”
