West Indies Test team discards fast bowler Kemar Roach and batsman Rajendra Chandrika have been picked in the 14-man A squad, which will tour Sri Lanka in October-November. Also in the squad is batsman Kieran Powell, who last played international cricket in 2014 and left the game for about a year to try his hand at Major League Baseball.
Nineteen-year-old Shimron Hetmyer, who led West Indies to the Under-19 World Cup title in February, also features in the squad, which will be led by Barbados’ Shamarh Brooks.
In all, West Indies will play three four-day games and three one-day games on the tour, which runs from October 1 to November 1.
A separate 14-man squad was named for the limited-overs games. That squad also included several players with international experience, including captain Jason Mohammed, spinner Veerasammy Permaul, and batsmen Andre Fletcher, Assad Fudadin and Chadwick Walton. Fast bowler Delorn Johnson and legspinner Damion Jacobs are the only two players to feature in both squads.
