[www.inewsguyana.com] – The 24 – year – old man who was accused and subsequently charged for raping a 14 – year – old girl was today granted $400, 000 bail at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court.
The man, Vishnu Singh of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was instructed by the Court to lodge his passport and report to the police station every Friday.
Singh is the son of the General Manager of the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB), Jagnarine Singh.
After the bail was posted, the man covered his face and reportedly raced down the stairs where his father was waiting for him in an SUV.
As soon as the man entered the vehicle, his father sped off from the parking area in the police compound.
The alleged victim has told police that the Better Hope man sexually assaulted her on January 27, last, after persuading her to enter his vehicle under the guise of taking her to her home.
According to the teen, the suspect had promised to provide sponsorship to her for an upcoming beauty pageant that she was scheduled to compete in.
