[www.inewsguyana.com] – The National Super 50 Team went down to a rest team 11 following an unimpressive performance at the national stadium last evening.
The 32 run loss as preparations continued, capped off a shadow of the selected team Guyana that will represent this country at the NAGICO Super 50.
Batting first the rest team posted 250 for 7 off 50 overs.
Opener, Shewnarine Chattergoon notched up 55 while Vishaul Singh added a well composed 49 in the opening side’s innings. The icing on the cake came from Rajendra Chandrika who hit 62 as the side closed in on 250 for 6 off of their 50 overs.
Led by their skipper, Christopher Barnwell who picked up 4-44, the Guyana team received assistance from Veerasammy Permaul and Royston Crandon, who both picked up a wicket for 55 and 41 runs a piece.
In their try at the total, the Guyana team crumbled at 218 in 47 overs with senior West Indies left hand batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s 77 amounting to the highest total.
Other batsmen, who managed to get into double figures, include Robin Bacchus with 26, Crandon with 25 and Narsingh Deonarine, 21.
Keon Joseph and Amir Khan stole three wickets each in the demise of Guyana’s super 50 team.
The team continued their preparations with training and drills today and will have their next practice match on Friday.
