[www.inewsguyana.com] – A porter of Lot 116 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, was sentenced to two years jail on Monday, July 27 by Magistrate Ann McLennan after pleading guilty to a break and enter and larceny charge.
The particulars of the charge state that 47 – year – old Hugh Cort broke and entered the store of Gordon Saul between July 15 – 16 and stole a quantity of clothing, amounting to $858,000.
Police Prosecutor, Dinero Jones told the court that Saul’s Boutique is located on Lime and Bent Street, Georgetown and that the entire ordeal was captured on CCTV camera, during which the police were able to identify Cort.
The court heard that Cort was later arrested at a home in Hadfield Street, which he also broke and entered and was subsequently taken to the Alberttown Police Station. He was then identified as the person who broke into the boutique.
According to the Prosecutor, the convict was previously convicted for a year on a similar offence.
