Some residents in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) over the weekend were brought relief when they were told that the prices for land had been reduced and processing of applications were done ‘on the spot’.
INews understands that the residents were even allowed to select their intended house lot numbers, during a meeting in the area with Minister within the Ministry of Communities with responsibility for Housing, Valerie Patterson.
This move is as a result of those living in the Region complaining bitterly that previously there had been a ‘lack of responsiveness’ to calls to address issues revolving around land titling and housing.
A number of women who expressed their appreciation were grateful for the opportunities to own their own lands and by extension their own homes so as to provide a better life for their families.
According to the Government, they were among the first 47 citizens to benefit from the ‘revised housing plans’.
Excellent!
