A Real Estate Agent was today charged for threatening language used against his employee.
Thirty – eight – year old Shawn Singh of Durban Street Lodge, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the offence. The court heard that on August 07 at Camp Street, Georgetown the man threatened his employee, Kavita Persaud.
The prosecution’s case revealed that on the day of the incident; Singh accused the complainant of stealing money from him and said that if she does not repay him, he will slit her throat and burn her house.
Shawn Singh was represented by Attorney- at- Law Paul- Fung-A-Fat, who denied the allegations by the prosecution and told the court that the complainant borrowed $1.6M from the accused and only repaid 300,000.
According to the lawyer, his client did not threaten the woman, but merely asked for his money. Based on the information presented in court, the Magistrate placed the accused on $50,000 bail and ordered that he return to court on September 16. [Royan Abrams]
