[www.inewsguyana.com] – One of the new addition to the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) lists of candidates for the upcoming elections has lashed out at the APNU+AFC coalition’s accusations of nepotism in the PPP.
The Party’s recent list which was presented to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Nomination Day saw a number of children of past and present PPP members.
A media release from Charles Ramson Jr on Saturday, April 11 called the Opposition’s stance a “red herring” that is attempting to deflect questions of its lists, “which contains some persons of a criminal nature some of whom have been arrested and charged and brought before the criminal courts or whom have had court orders against them for libel.”
The younger Ramson went on to add that, “it is also a red herring in an attempt to deflect from the fact that the APNU+AFC list does not represent the youth and future that is claimed to be their platform for this 2015 election. Almost 50% of the PPP/C’s lists of candidates are under the age of 45 and over 25% are under the age of 35.”
He questioned whether the, “offspring of the PPP should never get involved in the political struggle for national development.”
An analogy was created by the younger Ramson, as he likened politics to that of a family business noting “it would mean that the child of a senior officer in a business/company would never be able to work in that business/company. The reality is quite the opposite: most parents who own businesses have at least some degree of expectation of their children assisting in that business.”
He made it clear that some of the youths who were identified on the lists as children of past and present members of the PPP are qualified.
“Further, upon closer examination of the identified persons would reveal that the identified persons are young qualified professionals e.g. Ranvir Gajraj – a medical doctor; Thandi Luncheon – a medical doctor, Charles Ramson – an Attorney at Law; Rabindranauth Chandarpaul – an Engineer.”

Hello APNU+AFC?
Don’t you people read world news?
Don’t behave like mushrooms.
You are not in the dark and fed B.S.
Hello APNU+AFC are you listening?
Suffer??? Guyanese suffering?? With each family they own a minimum of 2 cars and a mini bus. They can afford to take trips to other Caribbean islands, and now many more are able to go to the Usa without the help of relatives in North america. They can afford to go many of night spots and dish out thousands of dollars.. They have the latest cell phones and electronic gadgets. Dress in the trendiest name brand clothing and doing all of this while holding a mortgage or keeping with their rent and other expenses. So kindly explain how Guyanese suffering??? Plus none of this was possible under the PNC!!!
A democracy, unlike a monarchy, is not a family business. There are many experienced youths available whose potentials will remain untapped because they are not related to those on the inside.
Way to go Ranson & Sons of Guyana.
You have youth and wheels to go in Motion!
You will leave behind the APNU+AFC DINOSAURS who have three speeds, slow, dead slow and stop! Mainly stop all progress!
Your time has arrived, It is time for this PPP/C youthful Party.
It is time for our youths to seize the moment.
I endorse yall trail blazers!
The steam roller is in motion, join the youths or get steam rolled!
Guyanese are speaking out against the Monarchy that is shown by the PPP. It seems like Guyana under the PPP is only for those family of the PPP, interested only in the wealth of the country, while the masses are there to suffer. The are other young Guyanese who are much more qualified and cannot find a job.
yes sir. We are suppose to be like north koura, Saddam Iraq, Cuba etc.. Its a family business
The guy is so correct, in his analogy, they rule this country as if its their business, so it has to be handed down to them. What idiocy, come May 12th, we’ll see.
Things are definitely red in Guyana right now and needs to be on the green and progressive path.We don’t need more fire so get rid of the people in red.
