Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Ronald Webster has called for the formation of an industrial development policy on land use and an international policy on energy.
Mr. Webster made this plea during the opening of a two day forum on economic development at the International Conference Center. The forum is being held under the theme, “Promoting Economic Growth through Innovation, Diversification and Partnership.”
Also delivering remarks was Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh who explained that Guyana’s competitiveness has improved due to the dynamic private sector.
He said that government will ensure that the policy environment remains favourable and competitive.
Additionally, President Donald Ramotar said that at this stage of Guyana’s development, all hands are needed on deck, given the fact that the country is operating within an international environment that is not always friendly.
The two day forum will see presentations from representatives of agro processing, aviation, energy, land use development, aquaculture, human resource and manpower planning, manufacturing, infrastructure, and standards, tourism and non-Caribbean trade.
