[www.inewsguyana.com] – President Donald Ramotar accompanied by Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn and Regional Chairman, Region Six, David Armogan visited the bereaved Bagot family from Philippi, Corentyne on Saturday, June 14.
The family suffered a severe blow on the evening of June 11 when sisters Tabithia Latoya Bagot, 19, Wanita Bagot, 16 and their three-year-old niece Shemaine Cort were killed by an alleged drunk driver.
In a brief comment, the President said that while it is impossible to stop the overwhelming grief the family must be experiencing, he wants the family to take solace and be assured of his support at this difficult time.
Residents who gathered at the home of the deceased said that their community is a very close-knitted one and the loss suffered by the Bagot family has deeply affected them all.
They are calling on the relevant authorities to ensure justice is done.
