President David Granger will be attending the Association of Caribbean States’ 7th Summit of the Heads of Government/States, which will be held in Havana, Cuba from June 2-4, 2016.
According to a Ministry of the Presidency release, the Head of State will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Carl Greenidge and Director General (acting) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Audrey Waddell.
According to the Association’s website, the Summit of the ACS is the most important meeting of the organisation – held periodically at the very highest level, facilitating the convergence of Heads of State and/or Government or their High Level Representatives from the entire Membership of the organisation, being Member States, Associate Members, Founding Observer Organisations, Observer Countries, Social Actors, as well as Specially Invited Guests from other International and Regional organisations.
The Association says that integral to its Summit’s proceedings, is the discussion of regional and global affairs, more specifically as it relates to regional cooperation on the focal areas of the Association, viz: sustainable tourism; trade development and external economic relations; air and maritime transport and disaster risk reduction.
