President believes land grabbing issue was orchestrated

[www.inewsguyana.com] – President David Granger says that the decision by some sections of society to engage in the illegal activity of grabbing state and private lands in several parts of the country is something that is being done with an ulterior motive.

Since the announcement of the results of the 2015 General and Regional Elections, there have been several instances where persons went on land grabbing sprees with one man going as far as beginning the construction of a home on a plot of land.

At the Ogle Airport the aid of the Guyana Police Force was solicited to remove persons who began a demarcation process, claiming the lands for themselves.

The President explained that while he is not sure who would direct the citizens to engage in the illegal act he is convinced that the move was a well orchestrated one.

As it relates to the enforcement of the laws of Guyana which speaks to trespassing, the President made it clear that once the laws are broken, he expects the police to respond accordingly.

“As far as I am aware the Guyana Police Force will enforce the law to prevent the illegal occupation of lands which don’t belong to the persons who are going on those lands,” stated President Granger.

On Monday last the land grabbing situation escalated with residents of Success, East Coast Demerara blocking the main carriageway on the Railway Embankment with debris and other obstacles.

Among other areas where persons were grabbing lands include communities of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, Diamond, East Bank Demerara and the upper and lower Mahaica area.

RN everyone and their uncle and aunt n grandma grandpa knows everything ..if u know for sure who orchestrated it then feel free to say..dont speculate..I going based on what ramjattan did at the airport when the very squatters he represent stole his phone..according to reports some say their were promised land at a price some ten years ago..not free like the real free loaders..so now u can state what u know n who u know

  2. Green Giant Rome wasn’t built in a day and its highly suspicious that groups of people right after the victory of the APNU/AFC government to commence with there “land grabbing” exercise. I know for sure that what they are doing was orchestrated

  3. Sweeti then you can tall who are orchestrating this thing.. we stop speculating..go for it give it a crack. ,i say..he speculating ..Coud it be Ramjattan the Champion of Squatters give them that right? It was Ramjattan who were most vocal in letting them have free land at the airport.

    Granger you have to be fair to all Guyanese to show you are truly president of all Guyanese..You didnt like it when PPPC was trying to move out squatters who vote PNC from Ruimveldt and especially the airport.. I have been saying for years now..squatting like illegal vending are plagues to guyana which must be wiped out..Its your turn now its your chance not to rid Guyana of these plagues so stop speculating on who motivating who to do what. YOU R D PRESIDENT.
