[www.inewsguyana.com]– One of the Youth Leaders of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) James Bond says from all indications the People’s Progressive Party/Civic engages in racist elections campaigning and should cease and desist post haste.
Bond was at the time speaking on Hard Talk aired on 90.1 Love FM on Sunday March 01, where the accusation made was starkly rejected by Junior Finance Minister Juan Edghill.
Bond, during a heated debate, said that the PPP/C is prone to resorting to the use of racial tactics during elections period.
“The PPP/Civic runs a racist campaign and they should stop it,” the APNU Parliamentarian said.
Referring to statements publicly made by Bishop Edghill shortly after the Lusignan massacre, Bond said it was “irresponsible.” He chided Edghill for what is referred to as ‘race baiting’ by stating that the incident at Lusignan was racially motivated.
“For Bishop Edghill to pronounce that Lusignan amounts to some form of race hate is irresponsible,” said Bond.
But Edghill made it clear that the statement represents the truth and he stands by it. The Former Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) contended that he had arrived at the conclusion after speaking to several members of the Lusignan community subsequent to the January 26, 2008 horror.
“From my discussion with the people of Lusignan – I am concluding that one of the driving motives was race hate,” said Edghill.
Further to that he “categorically” rejected Bonds opinion that the PPP/C is a Party that campaigned on racial prejudices.
