Popular Soca Singer, ‘Benjai’ whose real name is Rodney Le Blanc has returned to his hometown in Trinidad and Tobago to nurse wounds to his face which he allegedly acquired after being hit with a bottle outside of Palm Court just after performing on Sunday morning.
Based on reports received, the singer had just finished performing at the club and was standing outside, mingling with fans.
However, as patrons were leaving the event, a motor car reportedly reversed very close to the singer and his group. As such, someone reportedly tapped on the trunk of the vehicle to alert the driver than he should stop.
This “helpful gesture” however was reportedly met with the driver of the motor vehicle, along with his friends, exiting and hurling profanities to the group.
Benjai was allegedly seen trying to calm the irate man and his friends down, but this only resulted in one of the men hitting the singer to his face with a beer bottle, which broke during the action.
The singer was rushed to a medical facility where he endured over 25 stitches to his face.
A report was made but Inews was unable to confirm whether anyone is presently in police custody.
