The-Stabroek-Market-In-Georgetown-Guyana-651x439[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association [GMSA] does not believe political interference is hampering the manufacturing sector as was recently touted by veteran businessman, Dr Yesu Persaud.

The GMSA believes that one of the most critical challenges facing the Manufacturers is unreliable power supply and the exorbitant cost of it.

GMSA President, Clinton Williams had stated in his 2013 annual report to members that the best long term solution is renewable and stable power sources that could encompass hydro, solar, wind and biomass.

“This, among other such interventions, would allow Guyanese manufacturers of food products, interior decor, craft and wood products, and others utilizing the multitude of primary products with which this nation is blessed, to access markets for high quality value added products that are distinctly Guyanese,” the GMSA noted in a statement.

The GMSA says it holds Dr.YesuPersaud in very high esteem but disagree on a fundamental level with his comment.
