Assistant Commissioner of Operations (ACO), Christopher Griffith, accompanied by Staff Officer of Administrations, Maxine Graham and Welfare Officer, Deputy Superintendent Lorraine Saul, on Tuesday paid a visit to recovering Police Officer Victor Faucet who was shot to his head while on duty.
Faucet, who was shot in June of last year at a Police outpost in Wisroc, Linden, has since been a patient at various hospitals but is presently at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital.
He underwent several successful surgeries to have the bullet, which was lodged in his head, removed. Those surgeries were performed by Dr Edris Dookie.
However, as a result of this, Faucet had to have reconstructive surgery performed on his skull; this was successfully completed last Saturday.
The visit by the members of the Police Force was facilitated after this surgery. Since the shooting, the Police Force has been lending its full support to Faucet to facilitate a speedy recovery.
Faucet expressed his gratitude for the support from the Guyana Police Force, noting that the visit was “appreciated”.
Once he fully recovers, he is expected to resume his duties at the GPF.
