An alleged rape report has been filed with the police against a serving member of the Guyana Police Force.
The incident is alleged to have taken place at 00:30hrs on February 15, 2021 at Kumaka, Moruca in the North West District.
Police Headquarters said information received states that on February 14, 2021 about 16:00hrs, the victim was consuming alcohol at a shop situated at Kumaka Water Front with some friends when the accused joined them in imbibing.
About 22:00hrs on the said date, the party moved to a next location and continued imbibing.
On February 15, 2021 at around 00:10hrs, the victim alleged that she became intoxicated and was escorted to her home by the accused and a female friend who then left her alone in the company of the accused.
The victim said at around 00:30hrs, while she was in semi-conscious state, she realised that she was lying naked on her verandah while the policeman was having sex with her.
She allegedly pushed him off and raised an alarm, which alerted the household. This caused the accused to leave the premises.
A report was filed to the police on at around 16:40hrs and the accused has since been placed under close arrest.
Investigations are ongoing.
